From 1 January 2023, the GSP will be suspended for certain categories of products listed below from India, Indonesia and Kenya.

As a reminder, the European Union’s Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) allows the import of goods from developing countries at reduced or zero rates of duty. This system is currently governed by Regulation (EU) n.978/2012. This system is currently governed by Regulation (EU) No. 978/2012.

According to Article 8(1) of the GSP Regulation, the tariff preferences granted under the general scheme of this system must be suspended under certain circumstances.

This is notably the case when the average value of imports of products falling under the GSP and originating in a beneficiary country exceeds the thresholds set out in Annex VI of the GSP Regulations for three consecutive years.

The list of country/product category pairs is re-examined every three years.

The new revised list will apply from 1 January 2023.

Operators have been informed of the publication of the implementing regulation (EU) 2022/1039 of 29 June 2022 – OJ L 173 of 30 June 2022
