By integrating concrete actions to preserve biodiversity and improve the energy performance of its sites, DIMOTRANS Group reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development. At its Pusignan campus, the company has undertaken several innovative initiatives, including a biodiversity inventory and targeted actions to protect local ecosystems, demonstrating that urbanization can coexist with environmental preservation.

A Pilot Study to Assess Environmental Impact

Conducted over five months, this study traced the effects of the site’s establishment on biodiversity since the 1960s. Despite a loss of green areas due to campus development, the results show an increase in the number of plant habitats, from 2 to 9 different types. This diversification highlights that with appropriate measures, it is possible to contribute positively to ecosystems even in urbanized areas.

The inventory revealed the presence of 174 plant species, including two rare and protected orchids: Ophrys apifera and Anacamptis pyramidalis. Regarding fauna, notable observations included 8 species of lepidoptera, 2 species of reptiles, and 19 species of birds, including the European Goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis), a species threatened in France.

Simple but Effective Practices

  • The study also highlights accessible and reproducible initiatives that promote biodiversity:
  • Reasoned mowing of green spaces: Maintaining plant diversity while limiting excessive exposure of the soil to sunlight, which protects local flora and fauna.
  • Elimination of invasive species: A key action to preserve the balance of ecosystems.
  • Installation of shelters for local fauna: Providing suitable refuges for different animal species.
  • These measures are implemented in collaboration with ESATT, responsible for the maintenance of green spaces, to ensure their sustainability and effectiveness.

Rigorous Monitoring for Sustainable Results

To assess the impact of these actions, a second biodiversity inventory will be conducted in 2025. This monitoring will allow for adjusting preservation strategies based on the results obtained, strengthening the group’s commitment to responsible ecosystem management.

A Model for Sustainable Logistics

Beyond environmental initiatives, these actions are part of a broader approach by DIMOTRANS Group to reduce its environmental impact. By combining scientific studies, collaboration with its partners, and on-the-ground initiatives, the group illustrates how companies in the transport and logistics sector can contribute to addressing current ecological challenges.

As the group’s management emphasizes:

“These initiatives demonstrate our commitment to protecting natural ecosystems while promoting sustainable and responsible practices.” Céline Châtelain – CSR/QHSE Director of the group.

With these projects, DIMOTRANS Group lays the foundation for greener logistics, combining performance and respect for the environment.
